What is the new Digital SAT test like? How do I know if I should take it?
Many of you may have heard that the new Digital SAT test is now available, and you’re wondering what this even means.
Here’s a few facts to understand your testing options:
You can take the ACT or the SAT tests and include your scores on your college applications. Some schools require an ACT/SAT test score in order to apply, and many schools do not. Check on this at least a year before you plan to apply to a college or university.
Either the SAT or the ACT is accepted universally. This means that YOU HAVE A CHOICE BETWEEN THE TWO TESTS. The reason that this is important to know is because the ACT & the SAT are two totally different tests. You need to examine both tests to determine which test is right for you. The old SAT test was on paper. You had a test booklet and an answer sheet where you bubbled in your answers.
The new SAT test is on the computer, and you will complete the test on a device that is provided to you at your testing center.
The new SAT is now shorter than the ACT. The new SAT takes less time to complete than the ACT.
The new SAT has changed the format of the questions from the old SAT test. So if you were studying for the old SAT, time to study the new style of questions on the new SAT.
The ACT test is still on paper.
I hope this has cleared up some of your questions!
Something to think about:
Some students might prefer taking tests on a computer, and some might prefer taking tests on paper. For some, maybe it doesn’t matter.
Just depends on the person.
Some people also prefer the style of questions on the ACT, and some prefer the style of questions on the SAT.
Totally up to YOU to make the decision on which test to take.
Give me a call if you need some help figuring this out.
We’ll set up a meeting and explore which test makes the most sense for your brain.
